Viewsonic to join tablet with 10″ Android, Windows device

Chalk up another one to join the tablet frenzy sparked off by the runaway success of the iPad.

Tablets are going to be big this year. At least, so hopes Best Buy, which will be making slates a focus this holiday season, according to an interview with Forbes. We don’t know all that much about which tablets will actually make it to store shelves in time for the holiday rush, but SlashGear has unearthed some details about a couple of ViewSonic slates set to debut two weeks from now at the IFA trade show in Germany.

New Apple app to disable jailbroken devices in the works

Apple is apparently ramping up its battle to prevent iPhone and iPod owners from jailbreaking their devices.

The company has applied for a patent, titled “Systems and Methods for Identifying Unauthorized Users of an Electronic Device,” that covers a series of security measures to automatically protect devices from thieves and other “unauthorized users.” Unauthorized users apparently applies to those who engage in jailbreaking, which allows devices to run apps not approved by the company producing the operating system–such as Apple, the main target of such bypasses.

The application also describes a variety of measures that could be used to help identify the unauthorized user, including the activation of a camera that could capture and geotag the device’s surroundings, and perhaps current user, and transmit that information to a remote device:

Google out of Nexus One phones

It seems the nexus one is an unexpected hit with the Developers community! The phone that Google designed to be the flagship Android Device, has turned into a flagship development device!

Google Chrome OS slate to launch soon
