The server meltdown started just few hours after it was made available for the public. Initially, it worked just fine and those who somehow managed to place their order after 1:30PM Pacific Time will get their iPhone 4 unit some time between June 25 and July 5. Others who tried to submit their order again and again might have to wait a bit longer, as Apple is currently not entertaining any requests.

According to an official statement for AT&T,

“Because of the incredible interest in iPhone 4, today was the busiest online sales day in AT&T history. As of Tuesday afternoon, customers who preorder iPhone 4 moving forward will receive their device on June 25 or later, depending on when the order is placed. We’ll email customers with confirmation once their order is placed, and again when it ships. In addition, we will have devices available on a first-come, first-serve basis in our stores beginning on June 24.”

Apple iPhone 4 Pre-Order

Those who have already pre-ordered their iPhone have received an Email from the company stating that they will receive their iPhone on, or after 24th of June, because the requirements seem unable to be met by the carrier during the launch season.

Best Buy is currently busy taking orders for iPhone 4 from the customers for both models despite Apple’s claim that the white model would not be available for sale until sometime after June 24th launch. Here’s a picture of confirmation receipt from the Best Buy:
