Not to be outdone by the HTC EVO 4G, motorolla has decided to release the Android 2.2 ‘froyo’ update on its new Droid X in early september, while the many rumors surrounding an earlier release are quashed, citing performance and better stability issues.

The new update should bring all the new Android 2.2 mojo to the new Motorolla Droid X, including the new  over-the-air syncing features, better exchange support, and a slew of performance upgrades.
