Apple has released iOS 4.3.5 for its iOS devices that is mainly meant to patch some under-the-hood issues. No major developments or features have been introduced in this update.

Since iOS 4.3.5 is very similar to its predecessors, the tools that were used to jailbreak those firmware would work fine with this one as well. So this means that the current version of Redsn0w is capable of Jailbreaking iOS 4.3.5 on iPhone 3GS/4, iPad and iPod touch 3G/4G. Redsn0w won’t be of much help if you’re trying to jailbreak iOS on your iPad 2.

The bad news about this jailbreak is that its tethered, which means that if you restart your iOS device, everything goes back to the original condition – you lose your Jailbreak! So you have to make your best effort to avoid rebooting your device at any cost.

So here’s the step-by-step working guide of how to jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 using Redsn0w on iPhone 3GS/4, iPad and iPod touch 3G/4G.

How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.5

Download following files:

• Download iOS 4.3.5 and iOS 4.3.4
• iTunes 10.4 [Download]
• Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 [Windows users]
• Download Redsn0w 0.9.8b4 [Mac users]
• tethered-boot utility [Download]

After downloading the files given above, start Redsn0w. Browse and select iOS 4.3.4 firmware that you have just downloaded.

Once Redsn0w recognized your firmware, click Next and you will be taken to a new window. Check on Install Cydia and then click Next.

At this step, Redsn0w will ask you to turn off your device and plug it in to your computer. Once you do, follow the instructions on the screen to put your device in the DFU mode.

Once you have entered the DFU mode, Redsn0w will take care of the rest. Simply wait till all the process finish, you will have yourself a jailbroken device soon after that.

Geohot jailbreaking stuff is not limited to iPhone only, now we are able to jailbreak Playstation 3 firmware too, all thanks to StealthBravo. Here’s the guide:

1. Plug a USB stick into your computer
2. Create a folder in the root of the USB stick called PS3
3. Create a folder inside the PS3 folder called UPDATE
4. Download http://geohot.com/jailbreak.zip
5. Unzip Jailbreak.zip to PS3UPDAT.PUP
6. Move PS3UPDAT.PUP to the directory UPDATE that you just created on the USB stick
7. Plug the USB stick into your PS3
8. Navigate to Settings Tab
9. Choose System Update
10. Choose Update via Storage Media
11. It will say it found Version 3.55-jb
12. Choose OK
13. Accept Conditions and Install Update
14. After less than a minute, your PS3 will update, beep 4 times then shut down.
15. Power up your PS3 (You will have to do it on the console and not by the controller)
16. Your PS3 is now jailbroken!

To Install Packages

1. Plug your USB stick into your computer
2. Drop http://geohot.com/test.pkg into the root of the USB stick
3. Plug your USB stick into your PS3
4. Navigate to the Game Tab
5. Choose Install Package Files
6. Select the test.pkg
7. After it installs you will find the test package from geohot installed below the Install Package Files folder
8. Wait for more packages to be created by the PS3 community

For all those interested in getting their device running on iOS 4.2.1 jailbroken, we have got some good news for them. Redsn0w has brought untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.7b2. Here’s how to do that:

We’re about to release the first beta using this new “backup method”, which redsn0w calls “Jailbreak Monte”.  Here are some important points:

• This is a beta tester program. It’s not a general release!  Things can go very wrong, so please don’t even consider testing if you have pictures or other media on your device that you haven’t backed up!
• For the same reason, please don’t participate if you rely on the ultrasn0w carrier unlock.  Wait for the final version!
• Until we fix some sandbox issues with bluetooth, the bluetooth functionality is disabled.
• This very first beta1 is limited to iPhone4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G.
• Cydia must have your 4.2b3 SHSH blobs saved on file.  (As we approach a general release, we’ll provide a way to let you use locally saved hashes too).
• You must already have the usbmuxd software installed and running on your Mac (this requirement will eventually go away too). The correct invocation of the relay is just as that page says: “./tcprelay.py -t 22:2222”.  If the relay isn’t installed or running correctly by the time the redsn0w ramdisk has started, you’ll need to restore to stock FW again to try it again. Please test it beforehand to save yourself some time!

How to Update Nexus One on Android 2.2.1 Manually

1. Download the Android 2.2.1 firmware for the Nexus One Here
2. Rename the file update.zip and copy it to your microSD card via USB. [Note: make sure the file is named update.zip and not update.zip.zip.]
3. Power down your Nexus One
4. Hold down the “Volume Down” button as you power the phone back on.
5. A screen should appear showing your phone’s system searching for various files. Scroll down to “recovery” and press the “Power” button.
6. When you see the triangle with an exclamation point symbol, press the “Power” and “Volume Up” buttons at the same time.
7. From the menu that appears, select “Apply sdcard:update.zip.”
8. When the screen displays “Install from sdcard complete” select “reboot system now” and wait for the phone to power back up. (this will take a long time)

This is a simple, standard update so you shouldn’t encounter any problems. We will keep you up to date on more similar stories.

You can now easily hack your PS3 with the help of an Android phone, so far Nexus One and HTC Desire have been tested and are working flawlessly so far. Desire Bravo on OpenDesire 4.0.4 and other HTC phone supporting MSM72K USB controller might also be useful.

Here’s how you can do this:

Download the package, extract it.

Extract N1-CM6-PSFreedom.tar.gz and copy the contents to your SD card.

Copy PS3-signed.zip and PS3-No-More-signed.zip to your SD card.

Reboot into the recovery console.

Create a Nandroid backup just in case.

Install/flash PS3-signed.zip.

Reboot your phone.

Use ConnectBot or any terminal app and type:

• cd /mnt/sdcard
• su
• insmod psfreedom.ko

Kill the power to your PS3, switch on the back (PS3 Fat) or unplug from the wall (PS3 Slim), and connect your phone via USB.

Re-enable power and press the PS3 power button followed by the eject button in quick succession.

Your PS3 is now hacked! You’ll see “Install Package Files” under GAME on the XMB. To return your phone to normal just boot back to recovery and flash PS3-No-More-signed.zip.

A new version of iOS is out for iPhone and iPod touch, dubbed as iOS 4.0.2. If you have jailbroken this firmware on your iPhone already, then you must now be in a mood to unlock your iPhone to catch a signal from your favorite carrier.

Fortunately, the case with the new update is that they have not updated the baseband, which means that tools which were used to crack the baseband of iOS 4.0.1 firmware would work just fine for this baseband, which is baseband 05.13.04.

To unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.0.2 with Ultrasn0w, simply follow the steps given below:

• Before unlocking your iPhone, make sure that its already jailbroken. If not, then follow this guide closely on how to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.0.2
• As Redsn0w wouldn’t activate your iPhone, you would have to do it yourself by using the original carrier SIM. If you don’t have one, then see our post on how to activate iPhone without using the original SIM.
• When you are done with activation, simply follow the steps posted here on how to unlock your iPhone with Ultrasn0w and you should have an unlocked iPhone in the end if you have followed every step properly.

The new iPhone firmware iOS 4.0.2 is finally here and it has been jailbroken already using the existing version of Redsn0w. Here’s the how-to guide on jailbreaking your iPhone 3G or iPod touch 2G (non-MC model) running on iOS 4.0.2 using Redsn0w tool.

• First, you need to download the iOS 4.0.2 firmware for your iPhone or iPod touch.
• Now you need to update the firmware of your device using the IPSW file which you just downloaded. Simply open iTunes and restore to the downloaded firmware, or you can simply click on “update” if you’re experiencing and difficulties.
• Launch Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 and select the original iOS 4.0 firmware, not the one which you have just downloaded.
• Check “Install Cydia”. Leave the rest if you’re not sure about if you need it or not.
• Now turn your iPhone off and make sure that its plugged in to your PC. After that, hit “Next”.
• Now you will see some instructions in the Redsn0w application that would guide you about how to put your device in the recovery mode. That would include systematic press of Home and Power button. Simply follow them exactly with their lines until you see further processing.
• Thats it. Let the Redsn0w do its thing and when its done, your iPhone or iPod touch will reboot automatically and you will find it running on iOS 4.0.2. Thats the trick!

The “Different SIM Detected” problem occurs mainly in those iPhones that were jailbroken using the easiest jailbreaking method – JailbreakME. Apple has managed to cover the exploit  but now its possible yet again to activate your iPhone for a different network and get rid of the “Different SIM Detected” problem, as shown in the screenshot below:

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can fix the Different SIM Detected problem on the iPhone which is jailbroken using JailbreakME.

• Restore your iPhone to the original iOS 4.0.1 firmware using iTunes.
• Now activate your iPhone using phonebook SIM card. Refer the video below for guidance:
• Jailbreak your iPhone again using JailbreakME.
• Unlock it using tutorials posted here.
• Replace the phonebook SIM card with your SIM. When you will reboot, it would show you the Different SIM Detected error.
• Download i-Funbox for Windows OS.
• Launch i-FunBox and let it detect your iPhone attached to your PC.
• Now go to /private/var/root/Library/. You’ll see several folders there, delete the folder named as “LockDown”.
• Download the patched version of LockDown and copy it on the same location, /private/var/root/Library/.
• Now you are good to go. Simply restart your iPhone and now it should be able to pick a signal.

MMS service might not properly work on jailbroken iPhone 4 using T-Mobile carrier. To fix the this MMS service on T-Mobile, you need to patch up your jailbreak with the new fix that is available via Cydia. Here are the details:

This tutorial assumes that your iPhone is jailbroken already, since you are using T-Mobile. If not then follow the instructions to see how to Jailbreak and Unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1

• Launch Cydia on your iPhone. Tap on “Manage” and then select “Sources” from there.
• Now tap on “Edit” and then on “Add”. It will ask for a path to get a source. Type in “cydia.pushfix.info” and tap on “Add Source”.
• Wait for few moments while Cydia carries out a series of installation tasks.
• When installation is complete, go back to Cydia and search for “T-Mobile US  MMS Fix for iOS4” application. Install it on your iPhone.
• Now press home button to get to your main home screen. Now go to Settings –> General –> Network –> Cellular Data Network and crosscheck your MMS settings with the following informaton:

APN: wap.voicestream.com
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
MMS Max Message Size: 1048576

Now all you have to do is to restart your iPhone and now the MMS service provided by T-Mobile should be working flawlessly on your iPhone.

iPhone Dev Team has released Ultrasn0w 1.0-1 to unlock iPhone 4.

This makes it the world’s first free software solution to unlock iPhone 4. iPhone Dev team had already released Ultrasn0w 0.93 to unlock all basebands since iPhone OS 3.0 including baseband 05.13.04 that comes bundled with iOS 4 for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G users.

iPhone Dev Team announced the release of Ultrasn0w for iPhone 4 on their blog:

Version 1.0-1 of ultrasn0w works for:

• iPhone4 baseband 01.59
• 3G/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04

So if you have jailbroken your iPhone 4 on iOS 4 or iOS 4.0.1 using JailbreakMe then you should be able to install Ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock your iPhone 4 for free.

Ultrasn0w 1.0-1 can also be installed by iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users to unlock their iPhone on iOS 4 or iOS 4.0.1 or earlier (upto iPhone OS 3.0).

Here are the steps that you can follow:

1. Users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w.
2. Launch Cydia
3. go to Manage>sources>edit>
4. Please add the “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” to Cydia sources and add source.  That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”. If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
5. Then search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in Cydia and install ultrasn0w.
6. after installation, reboot once and enjoy an unlocked iPhone 4( the first reboot might take longer than usual to pick the new SIM)

This should successfully unlock your iPhone.
