Today, Barnes and Noble announced that it’s color ebook reader is shipping slightly ahead of schedule and will be available for about $250. The Nook has a 7 inch touchscreen LCD and built in Wi-Fi. The Nook no longer has the color strip at the bottom since Barnes and Noble decided to have it full touch screen. Also, Barnes and Noble has decided to go toward the tablet market by calling the Nook “the readers tablet”. The display is sharp, however compared to the Kindle, the Nook is more susceptible to glare because of it’s “glass” display.

You might be wondering how AT&T did this, considering that they are all selling the same hardware specs. One answer is that AT&T is using the same flexible, pay-as-you-go data plans pioneered on the iPad, priced at $14.99 (250MB/month) and $25 (2GB/month). If you plan on making use of the Tab’s Wi-Fi capabilities, having the option of paying as little as $14.99/month makes this competitively more affordable in the long-haul.

To sweeten the deal, AT&T is also throwing in a $50 gift card for the Samsung Media Hub movie rental store–which balances the price out if you planned on using the store anyway. AT&T can also afford to lower it’s price since it already already has the hottest tablet of all time, the iPad; it doesn’t need to eat into its profits to compete.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is one of the leading and true iPad competitors, AT&T is going to ride that leverage as it will now carry the number one tablet, the Apple iPad and now what looks to be the second best tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Things are looking rosy for the telecommunications carrier.

As if the world of tablet PCs is not crowded enough, Viewsonic has entered the tablet PC foray with it’s own Viewpad 7. According to Viewsonic’s American team, the company will begin it’s US Tablet invasion with the introduction of the Viewpad 7 in November. The Viewpad will run on the Snapdragon processor, on top of that, the Android 2.2 operating system will take care of the Viewpad’s operations. The Viewpad will have 2 cameras, a 3 mega pixel rear camera and a front facing VGA camera. Memory will be at 512 MB and will also include 3G capabilities.

Viewsonic tries to differentiate the Viewpad from other tablets by including access to the Google market and will have pre-loaded Google Apps. The Viewpad also tries to up the price point ante, initial cost will be about $479, and that $100 cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The Viewpad 7′s larger brother, the Viewpad 10 will only be available next year and rumors have it that the Viewpad 10 will be able to dual boot Android and Windows 7. We’ll just have to wait and see how this develops.

No, it’s not the Nexus S, according to a presentation slide presumably from Samsung, they will be releasing their flagship phone by February of 2011. According to the presentation, the phone will have a 4.5 inch WGA sAMOLED2 screen. We’re not sure yet what sAMOLED2 means but the most logical definition is… Super AMOLED 2, which means that Samsung has made improvements to the already brilliant and attractive AMOLED screen found in earlier versions of their high end phones particularly on the Galaxy S.

The Samsung Flagship phone is expected to run on the Android Gingerbread operating system and will be equipped with an 8 mega pixel camera which will be able to capture 1080p video, 14.4 Mbps HSPA, Bluetooth 3.0, probably a 1.2 GHZ processor and 16 GB built in memory. According to the presentation, the flagship phone will have an ultra sleek design. So, for those of you wanting to purchase the Nexus S, you should probably wait until February next year for this flagship phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has been released and is making the buzz on the web these past few days. It’s aimed to directly compete against the Apple iPad, how does it fair?

The Samsung Galaxy Tab has a 7 inch multi touch screen compared to the iPad’s 9 inch screen. Steve jobs, Apple’s CEO has criticized tablets which have smaller than 9 inch screens, saying that 9 inches is the optimal size for multi touch and typing comfort. The Galaxy Tab is proving that statement to be wrong. The Galaxy tab is easy to use and type on and doesn’t feel like a cramped version of the iPad. In fact, carrying around the Galaxy Tab feels easier than the iPad, it’s more portable without sacrificing functionality.

The Galaxy Tab runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, which means it runs on open-source and would likely have more applications you can run on it. Their is already an app store for Android apps and since Google doesn’t control what can be uploaded to the store, there are a lot more choices from the open source community. The Galaxy tab also comes with 1 front facing and 1 rear facing camera which the iPad is rumored to have only in it’s second generation.

The Galaxy Tab is one of the first true competitors of the iPad and definitely gives the iPad a run for its money. Of course, no gadget is perfect, there are some quirks about the Galaxy Tab like, you won’t be able to charge on a USB dock, you will need to connect the Galaxy tab to a power outlet. Also, browsing on some major sites, the Galaxy Tab will display stripped down version of those sites and there isn’t any configuration that will allow you to browse the full web version.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is currently available from T-Mobile and Verizon and will cost about $600.

Android Notifier is a brilliant app for Android users, as it allows you to receive and send SMS, MMS, Calls and acknowledge other notifications directly from your machine, may it be PC, MAC or a linux driven computer. All you need is to install Android Notifier on your phone and computer, and you have yourself a perfect sync of your mobile and ocmputer.

If results start popping up instantly the next time you type into the Google search box, don’t be alarmed. You’re looking at the new Instant Search feature, which Google has begun rolling out to some users signed into Google accounts.

The new feature basically lets you forgo hitting the enter key (or clicking the search button, if you’re that kind of person), although it works only on newer browsers: Chrome 5, Firefox 3, Safari 5, Internet Explorer 8, and anything more recent. You also need to be checking the U.S., British, French, German, Italian, Spanish, or Russian version of the Google portal. At least with the U.S. portal, a bigger version of the Google logo heralds the change.

Lest you think Google is merely catering to the lazy, the search giant claims Instant Search can save two to five seconds per search. Extrapolating, it adds, “If everyone uses Google Instant globally, we estimate this will save more than 3.5 billion seconds a day. That’s 11 hours saved every second.” Too bad I usually initiate searches straight from my browser’s address bar—I could use a few seconds of saved time.
