AT&T Announces MMS Support for iPhone

The lack of sending an MMS has always been an issue with iPhone users and it strikes surprisingly to most of the people, since majority of the users see it as a taken-for-granted thing, when it comes to smart phones.

Though rumor has it that Apple will announce the MMS support with the launch of OS 3.0 but it simply did not happen for AT&T users (Other iPhone users with OS3.0 on different mobile operators have this previllage). But now the good news is that AT&T has vowed to bring the MMS service to iPhone users by the end of September, 2009.

According to a statement from the Apple’s spokesman,

We’ve been working for the past several months to prepare our systems and network to ensure the best possible experience with MMS when it launches – and that launch date is: September 25 for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. MMS will be enabled through a software update on that day.We know that iPhone users will embrace MMS. The unique capabilities and high usage of the iPhone’s multimedia capabilities required us to work on our network MMS architecture to carry the expected record volumes of MM traffic and ensure an excellent experience from Day One. We appreciate your patience as we work toward that end.

AT&T has not confirmed anything related with price, but the rumor has it that the service would be free of any additional charges.
