Apple has now launched a new app for their US based customers which allows them to browse and shop items from the Apple Store. They can view all the latest product, their prices, images and other details right from their iPhone. Apple is calling this app “Apple Online Retail store application”.

This app has also got a feature to pre-order your iPhone 4G, locate an Apple retailer near you and sign up for retail store appointments and workshops.

Other features of the Apple app store are:

- See new and featured products from Apple.
- Shop the full selection of products available from the Apple Online Store.
- Find the latest accessories and software.
- Read customer reviews and get answers to product questions.
- Buy or reserve a new iPhone with just a few taps.
- Locate any Apple Retail Store in the world, instantly.
- Make Personal Shopping, Genius Bar, and One to One appointments.
- Sign up for workshops and events at your favorite Apple Retail Store.

The Apple Store iOS app has been designed for iPhone and iPod users specifically. It could function on an iPad too but its interface design is just not right for it.

After launching this app, they took a break and called off this service after a short while with a note of “We’ll be back soon” as they were overwhelmed with the response from Apple lovers who were very much interested in pre-ordering iPhone 4 and new MacMini.

Currently this app is available for US customers only but would soon be available for other countries.
